South Sacramento is a diverse community that deserves identity and intention! Revitalize South Sacramento is a community-led effort to create a distinct identity that reflects the cultural characteristics of the region and improves the livability of the residents and community members of the south area region. Join us as we lead the effort in rebranding and uniting the South Sacramento community!
HOW WE'RE GOING TO DO IT!
- Conduct surveys to understand how South Sacramento community members relate to their environment and identify shared priorities.
- Incorporate targeted artwork and local talent to bring positive, family-friendly entertainment that reflects the spirit of our neighborhoods.
- Develop relationships with public agencies, community-based organizations, and residents to create impactful, inclusive events that celebrate our diversity.
- Create a South Sacramento map with unified boundaries — guided by lived experience — to represent how residents truly define and connect with their community.
- Community - Energize the residents and community leaders of the region to be civically engaged and committed to the collective efforts.
- United - Bring together community leaders and organizations
- Revitalize - Develop and perfect the brand to create a more livable community.
- Empower - Create opportunities for community members to enact the principals of Revitalization efforts
- Coordinate with the City of Sacramento elected officials and Sacramento County elected officials to develop consistent and intentional policies for the South Sacramento community.
- Develop Community Outreach Strategy.
- Update and/or create Specific Plans and Community Plans.

The Stephens Foundation is a proud recipient of the City of Sacramento’s Community Action Grant. With this support, we’re creating educational opportunities that teach our community about watersheds, stormwater, and the vital role our water systems play in keeping neighborhoods healthy. Together, we’re building knowledge, stewardship, and a healthier Sacramento for all.

We invite you to be part of our RSS Hangouts and learn how to keep our neighborhoods healthy through environmental stewardship. South Sacramento is often described as an environmental justice community, facing unique challenges around access to knowledge and resources. Together, we can change that. The more we know, the more we grow—healthy, strong, and happy!

The Stephens Foundation (TSF) and the Revitalize South Sacramento (RSS) Coalition – The Changemakers invite your valued participation in our 2026 Cohort Presentations. The program will feature youth, grassroots organizations, and small business leaders presenting innovative solutions and collaborations benefiting District 2 residents — addressing mobility, arts & entertainment, housing, waterways, and community infrastructure.
